FilaPet FAQs

What is FilaPet?
FilaPet is an iPhone application that was developed to provide an essential filing system for all your pet’s needs. Endorsed by veterinarians, this easy-to-use application is a must for all pet owners.

How do I add a pet?
When you first enter the application, select "Add pet”.  This will automatically take you to the Pet Information screen where you can enter your pet’s details.

What does MN, ME, FN, FE mean?
These terms are the abbreviated terms to describe the sex of your pet: MN = Male Neutered, Male Entire, Female Neutered, Female Entire.

I cannot change any details on the main screen?
The main screen is a quick visual of your pet’s information and medication alerts.  Any data must be entered or modified in the Pet Information or Medical Information screen.  This will automatically update the Main screen.

How do I add a past “Vet Examination, General Health, Vet Test, Vaccines, Weight or Other" note to Pet History?
Changing the "Date" and adding a "Note" will be automatically saved into "Pet History" on exit of the screen.

Can I delete a “Pet History” note?
Notes can be easily deleted by selecting the "X" which is located next to each pet history note. Use the "Add Note" button to create new notes in the “Pet History”. To create a new Pet History Note press "Add Note". Press below the word 'Note' to activate the keyboard.

If I don’t give the medication on the alert date, how do I change the date?
Manually enter the date you last gave the medication into the section “date given”.  This will automatically be recorded in Pet History and the corresponding "due date" alert will be updated.

I cannot send an email to the vet – pet history or repeat prescription?
Emails can only be sent if the “User Information” screen has been completed and a default Veterinary contact has been entered (with the "Select as Vet Contact" button selected) in the "Contacts" screen.
Check with your veterinary hospital to confirm that the details are correct.

Can I change the details within the email to vet?
Emails are automatically created with all information from “pet history” or “medical history” depending on what you are sending.  If this is too much information then the body of the email can be altered or extra notes can be added within the body of the email.

How do I email pet history information to a different vet?
If you want to change the vet you are emailing or if you want to email the boarding facilities, you need to press the "Select as Vet Contact" on the appropriate contact - the Blue cross icon will move to the newly selected contact. All emails will go to this contact.

What products should I use for heartworm, flea or tick control?
Your pet should be under the professional care of a veterinarian.  Only your veterinarian will know what product is appropriate for your pet.

I don’t know what vaccinations my pets get.  How should I keep a record?
Vaccination records are particularly important especially for those pets that go into boarding or change veterinary hospitals.  With specific vaccinations needing boosters every year and some every 3 years, it is important to be able to note which vaccines your pet gets.  Here are some codes that can be used and will be known by all veterinary professionals.

I don’t know what type of tests my pets get. How should I keep a record?
There are many tests that veterinarians perform to help assess the health of your pet.  Here is a list of some tests that you vet may routinely perform:
